hey, paro46 where are you from? What is your geographical location?
I'm from NJ and if what jerseygirl said about 20 kids applying to Wharton from her school, I'm going to be going up against ALOT of competition! Damn NJ!

Haha, yeah Penn love.

And I really have no clue how many kids are gonna be applying from Long Island... Couldn't even begin to guess, in the hundreds for ED I bet.

nooooo more competition for us :(

lol^

getcrunk, im from mia. git qrunc =)
and yeah, gluck with all that wharton competition. mwahaha

I know of more than 30 people applying early between my school on long island and the school in the town next to mine. I don't think that the caliber of the ED applicants on Long Island is really that much higher than around the country (besides the rediculous number of legacy's), however long island's RD pool will be rediculously strong and competitive.

Ew.
Only one other kid from my HS is applying ED to Penn, and my grade has ~400 kids in it.

Which HS do you go to on LI ?

And although I am from Long Island, NY, I have a golden retriever named Dakota... How much will this help me in the admissions process? Does it give me that geographic edge - Dakota ?

=P

HAHA you are adorable^

That reminds me of Dakota Fanning.. such a great actress =)

I dont know anyone else who applied from my grade (about 200 kids). BTW i go to SWR (north shore way out east :))

There are tons of people applying from like Jericho, Syosset, Great Neck, Roslyn...

Hey Texas kids.
I'm from Houston =)
Well not IN Houston.
Like 40 minutes away.

Are you a ED Texas applicant?

The fact that you claim many students are applying to Penn ED from Syosset, Jericho, Roslyn, etc might actually hurt their chances, because apparently Penn doesn't like to accept many kids from the same school.

One other kid in my grade (of ~400) is applying to Penn, but he's applying to Wharton and I'm applying to the College. His rank is 1% better than mine, but my SAT score is over 200 points better than his, so I think I'm in better shape.

But honestly, the kids at Syosset and those other high schools are so hardcore, I don't think I can compete with them.
I wonder how many kids Penn usually accepts ED from Long Island...

I know last year, 300 kids matriculated to Penn from New York.
If ~50% of those were accepted ED, that's about 150 kids.
And I know that the population of Long Island comprises 40% of the whole state of New York... So if 40% of those 150 were from Long Island, that would mean about 60 students were accepted ED from Long Island.

Damn, that's tough.

=[

I go to one of those schools and last year we had about 15 apply early, and 5 were accepted. Then 2 of another 25 applicants were accepted regular decision.

Craziness, damn... Things are looking bleak.

What are the stats like of some of your friends from your HS applying ED to Penn?

wharton411-- no i'm RD

Im-34 ACT 95 GPA good ECs most challenging course load and im probably an average to slightly above average applicant.
There are legacys who are both more and less qualified, kids with rediculously high sats but more in the 1300s than 1500s (1400s on average). The people accepted from my school last year were rediculously well rounded.

ouch wharton RD.

i can't help but flinch at its near impossible-ness. To me, it was ED or bust

Mississippi......mwuahahahaha! along with above average stats!

feels good to be from the nation's dumbest/fattest/worst state

^ lol. lucky duck
