Geographic location matters?

I just wondered if their general impressions on each state-which they pick many students such as Illinois, California, and Florida- matters for decisions to be released. I have not heard anyone who got accepted from Alabama so far. Is my theory making any sense? They pick up students from those states that apply the most and then go to the states that apply least

Nah, I know a friend from FL, who still hasn’t heard back… He’s been deferred to Yale so far… So not a weak applicant imo…

According to UMich CDS Section C7, Geographical Residence is considered.

Cuz I heard no one who got in from Alabama. I am thinking your friend @collegeplease123‌ will be in later on maybe next week.

@JK0919‌ It’s frustrating, man. No date set in stone, rolling admissions, like come on…

@collegeplease123‌ However there are many applicants who got rejected so far. We still have good shots.

According to @billcsho‌, we have like a 90-something percentage chance that we’ll either get waitlisted or rejected… I don’t know if that’s such a positive stat to be honest…

@JK0919‌ Wait… You said “many applicants.” Like about how many people? An estimate, perhaps.

@collegeplease123 I am not sure how you would see but I keep hearing people who are rejected. Moreover, it is quite absurd to just believe that 90 percent of people would be rejected. Based on last year it could be correct since they picked up most of their students throughout 3 waves that happened one in Jan one in Feb and one in March. But this year, they only did twice and pretty sure they picked up 5000 to 6000. Of course people will be rejected. But I am pretty sure even if they use waitlist this time, they would pick at least 12000 students overall. I say it would be mixture of acceptance and denial and wait-list for the next wave.

not majority of people would be rejected at once. They sorted out people adequately throughout each batches I think

@JK0919‌ Hmm… So, like you’re predicting a wave about this Friday or so? Or just small batches throughout the week?

Personally, I also think it is not wise for U of M to give its applicants feel exhausted about their admission process since it takes too long for them to release.

@collegeplease123‌ No one can say for sure cuz this year’s trend has been changed from last year. But I heard people saying that a guy from the admission office mentioned about next Friday so that it would be the day for us. But honestly, acceptances will go out as much as what denials go out. and others are all wait-listed.

I’ve already been rejected to a so-called “safety school”, so not a lot of hope riding on my chances on Michigan…! I applied to LSA, but I thought it wasn’t that competitive as opposed to CoE?

@collegeplease123‌ Did you apply for UW Seattle? where did you apply so far? well, considering your GPA, it could be kinda lingering to be in but your sat is in the range. So you still have a shot as well as what I do I think. Of course CoE was the hardest part to get in.
