Hi, I while I was browsing the UPenn website I came across a section showing the geographical distribution of the international students. According to the information given my area, the Caribbean, accounts for 1% of the entire group. So my question is, when I am applying would this give me an advantage over the other applicants from better represented regions such as south east Asia (28%) or Europe (18%)? Or would I be on the same level as the students applying from those areas (i.e. No advantage whatsoever because of where I live)? Thanks in advance :)

I think internationals are all lumped into one pool regardless of where outside the US they are from. If that is the case, then you would be at a disadvantage

yea i think geography would only be an advantage in the US

Thank you for the responses, but can you please explain how it is a disadvantage?

Well these schools are only going to take a certain number of international students, so think about it this way: you’re going up against some of the strongest other applicants from all over the world and competing for very few spots
