since washu is in the middle of nowhere [midwest], can applying from NYC help a LITTLE bit in the whole process?

That attitude about the midwest and St. Louis is bound to help you alright.

After I told someone at WashU from Long Island that I'm from Cincinnati, she asked, "Oh, do you live in Amish country?"

There are a lot of Northeasterners here, though, so I doubt that would help much.

before applying, I would visit the campus.....if you can find an airport or street near it, since we all know St. Louis is all farmland

haha...definitely STLFan2003...

WashU has a large amount of student representation from the northeast, NY in particular, and I've heard about 1/3 Jewish representation as well if anyone cared to know. Just some things that were noted to me by someone who once attended there a few years ago (so may not be exactly the same for all classes). So the NYC thing might not seem to weigh all that much, sorry to say. But you never know how things are going to work out, so hope for the best!

Since when can you characterize St. Louis as the middle of nowhere?

What would you call the rural counties all over the country, then, nonexistent?

The midwest is NOT in the middle of nowhere, thank you very much! I've lived in the midwest my whole life!

Okay, so some places in the midwest are isolated, like farms and stuff. But St. Louis?!? Def not.

lol I DIDNT MEAN TO GET SO MANY REACTIONS I DIDNT KNOW PPL WOULD READ THIS THREAD =( I'M SORRY i'm really ignorant actually about places like st. louis i've never gone to the midwest before. but anyway, point is, sorry.

Haha it's okay; we're just letting you know that the midwest has it's own charm, and just because a place is in the farm-y region does not mean it's in the middle of nowhere :-)

Chicago, St. Louis, etc...they're huge cities.
