Geography major in private universities

When I look at the rankings of geography majors of schools, the lists are always mostly public universites. I'm not interested in going out of state for a public university (except Berkeley).

I was wondering which private universities have good Geography majors. It seems like a somewhat snubbed major.

Clark University, though not a household name, is very prominent in geography. From Wikipedia:

The School of Geography was founded by then President Wallace Atwood in 1921, and is the first institution in the United States established for graduate study in this science. It has granted more doctoral degrees than any other geography program in the country. The geography department is best known for its strength in human-environment geography and for the development of the Idrisi geographic information systems software by Prof. Ron Eastman. It was ranked #1 for undergraduate geography by Rugg's Recommendations on Colleges and has consistently been ranked in the top 10 in the nation by other publications. The geography department also offers a graduate-level degree in GIS as part of the Fifth-Year Free program.

The "Fifth-Year Free" program guarantees a tuition-free fifth year of study, leading to the MA degree, for undergraduates who maintain a B+ average. Not a bad deal.

In general, geography has become more fashionable and less snubbed since the advent of GIS and GPS technologies.

Wonderful department of Geography and Meteorology at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana.

My favorite professor in college got his graduate degree from Clark. It was in geography.

Dartmouth (the only Ivy) ...Middlebury

in the environmental consulting business & have been recruiting undergrads (especially from selective privates, including LACs) w/ various majors/concentrations, including Geography. Frankly, there aren't that many Geography programs out there, but the one I like best is Colgate's. Strong dept & faculty, in both physical geography & human geography. Students can get involved in faculty research, and the students I've met and/or hired are technically good & well rounded. I understand that Colgate's Geography major has become very popular as a major selection, having increased its number of majors/class considerably in the last few years. On Middlebury, although I have recruited Midd science & env studies majors, I have yet to recruit a Geography major...program looks good though.
