Geology Graduate School Admission

Hello all,

This is my first post on this website and I hope that someone can be of help. I just finished applying to graduate school in geology. I am very nervous about my admission prospects.
I applied in hydrogeology to UC Davis, Colorado-Boulder, Virginia Tech, New Mexico Tech, UMass Amherst, Dartmouth College.

My stats are as follows:

3.16 uGPA, 3.47 uGPA in final 2 years
GRE: 760 Math (85%), 570 Verb (80%), 5.0 Writing (81%)
Recommendations: Excellent (Pres. of GSA, 2 other top profs)
Research Exp.: solid but somewhat unrelated to field I intend to pursue (i.e. in geology but not hydro)

I was wondering if anyone here has any relevant idea of my chances of admission. I know that my uGPA is rather low, especially for some of the top schools on my list.

even I am applying in geology course this fall
at penn state,ohio,cornell,columbia,jhu,texas austin, n kansas gre:800 Q v 630
i am also waiting for response frm uni
you have any idea when do you get to hear about the admission decision
and so your planning to specialize in hydro…
what was ur major in undergrad?
I majored in geology but wanna get into geophysics for phd or ms

I’m curious as to what happened in your process, Backpackerster, for a couple of reasons. I did my undergrad at Ohio and am interested in their geology program. My daughter is currently finishing up at UT Austin in geology and is considering UT for graduate work. Where did you end up? Thanks
