Geology vs Environmental Engineering

I am very interested in geology, but environmental engineering has recently caught my interest. I have done some research on environmental engineering, but I am still unsure about it. I am mostly interested in dealing with geologic hazards, natural parks and hydrology. In your opinion, would I be better off studying geology or environmental engineering?

Is anyone familiar with job prospects of environmental engineering vs those of geology (not oil, coal, natural gas, mining)?

Can anyone give me some examples of what environmental engineers actually do?

As far as environmental engineering is concerned, you might find [this profile](http://www.careercornerstone.org/environmental/profiles/payne.htm) interesting.
