I am currently an engineering geology major at Purdue University. I love the Earth sciences classes that I am taking but I have doubts about this field of study, as far as job opportunities are concerned. Can anyone any advice/wisdom?

There are relatively few jobs in geology, but there are even fewer geology grads, so jobs prospects are very good.

I am a geologist working in Petroleum industry. mid-40s, MS in Geology. I have had a interesting and valuable career. WOrked in Calif, Alaska, Russia, Midle-East.. now in Houston.

There are good opportunities, in petroleum , I have a cousin in environemntal/engineering work in California. There is also a bit of boom//bust for geoscientists ... especially petroleum .

Let me know your specific interests

Yes, talk to Ophiolite. His/her advice is typically quite practical.

Interesting, I have had several 'CC" conversations with Ophiolite and didnt think about the possiblity of them beign female.

I would also second Lake Wash comments, Opholites comments are very good, I believe Oph. inidcated that they may not be on CC for a while .
