George Mason Acceptance

So I am doing really bad in High School. I try to raise my GPA by taking harder classes but it doesn’t work so well.

In my freshman year, My weighted GPA was a 2.7

I took English 9 HN, World History 1 HN, Japanese 1, Health and PE, Advanced Orchestra, Algebra 1, and Biology

Sophomore year raised my cumulative GPA to a 2.92, but over the summer I took Algebra 2 and it dropped my GPA down to 2.85.

I took Geometry HN, English 10 HN, World History 2, Chemistry, Health/PE, Advanced Orchestra, and Japanese 2

Junior year was the worst year, it dropped my GPA to a 2.65

I took AP Physics 1, Pre calc HN (But failed), Chamber Orchestra, Japanese 3, US/VA HN, English 11 HN, and Econ/Personal Finance

I just finished my first Quarter for senior year and I believe that my GPA should be around 2.7-2.9.

I am taking US Gov HN, AP Biology, AP Statistics, AP Psychology, English 12 HN, Computer science and Chamber orchestra.

I took another AP language exam and got a 4,
Took the AP physics exam and got a 1…

My SAT score was 1150 in total (520 in English, 630 in math)

In my opinion, my college essay was a bit unique, it kind of stands out more than my other classmates.

Can someone please give me a response? Thank you!

It really depends on what major you have applied for. For example, engineering school is very competitive. I think you need to reflect on why you performed the way you did and how you will change your study habits so that you are successful in your college courses. (college classes will be more demanding) It is important to have good study skills developed before you start your first semester of college. Hopefully you have applied Early Action as each year GMU gets more and more applicants. If you don’t get in you can always transfer in later after spending a year at community college.
