George Mason or Virginia Tech?

I have been accepted to both schools and it has been a real struggle choosing which school to go to; my FASFA did not help me, so I must pay full tuition for both schools. However, for GMU, I would not have to pay room and board since I live 20 minutes away and can commute. But the thing is, I went to VT for their admitted students day and LOVED it there. After soaking in the atmosphere and coming home, I also realized how much I'll really miss home (but everyone does I know).
One BIG factor is my major: Political Science. I knoww that Mason is closer to the capital and it might have better oppourtunities, but I was thinking about maybe doubling majoring in Economics..and VT has a really good business program there. It kind of embarrasses me when my parents get asked where I might be going and they say "Virginia Tech to study Political Science" and then they get weird looks or "DO THEY EVEN HAVE THAT THERE"..which is probably one factor as to why I might be considering double majoring.
There's a lot of things running through my mind right now; the money, the education, and the reputation. I just don't know what to do...
Help me?

Virginia tech is has a stronger national reputation out of the two. First off can your family comfortably afford VTech fully pay?

Mason would certainty have an advantage over VTech for political science especially due its proximity to DC. Also it will be cheaper since you are planning on commuting.

VTech is a very good school but for engineering and other science majors, so you may feel out of place academically.

Definitely look at the Political science department websites of both to see the faculty and the types of courses they offer for undergraduates.
