There does not seem to be any “Tiers” listed on the USNWR’s website anymore.
No more Tiers! No, not a baby shampoo! :)

How about Ed Meese being the former Rector of their Board of Regents. Is that conservative enough for you?

^^^ The old Tier III is now the bottom third of Tier I. What used to be called Tier IV is now called Tier II. I doubt that GMU’s ranking has changed.

okay so i live in northern va one of the most liberal areas in the country and George Mason is located smack dab in the middle of Fairfax county a very liberal leaning county. I dont believe anyone in the area where i live would ever consider George Mason conservative leaning. However at any college there are gonna be liberals and conservatives abound

Northern VA is not one of the most liberal areas in the country. There is a huge office building called the Pentagon with people who lean mostly right located right there. GM is not liberal, though the faculty probably is.

The Pentagon is full of military and government personnel, a large percentage of which are transplants to the area. They lean left, right, and center. None of this has squat to do with GMU which is located in the middle of suburbia.

Nice to see that I resurrected this thread lol. Fairfax is SLIGHTLY more liberal, however, it is very far from being one of the most liberal areas in the country. The past election for congressional representation was one of the closest races is country. The democrat, Gerry Connolly, beating the republican, Keith Fimian, by around 800 votes. “They both got over 200,000.” Back to GMU though, I’d say the under graduates as a whole lean slightly left of center, while the grad students lean slightly right of center. Only when generally speaking of course.

FWIW, The 11th district includes a large part of Prince William County, including Haymarket/Gainesville, Nokesville, sweeping east to Dale City and Woodbridge. You’re not just talking about Fairfax.

I do agree with your assessment of GMU. The students are younger than the residents and going to lean slightly left of center.
