George Mason, James Madison

I am very interested in George Mason and James Madison as possible schools to apply to next fall (I'm a junior). I was wondering, which school is best for someone who is interested in International Relations?

What other schools are good for IR, if you probably can't get into GWU or Georgetown?

I see you're from New England, i would not recommend going to GMU from far away. It does have a respected "up and coming" reputation and is strong in Political Science and IR by virtue of being close to DC, but it's a major commuter school. Most of the student body is from NoVA and goes home on weekends, if they live in the dorms at all.
JMU, on the other hand, is a great school that's often overlooked. Mostly attracts VA residents as it's such a bargain in state, but I'd say it's definitely a better school to attend than George Mason, especially if you want a "college experience"
You could look at AU in DC if you can't get into GW or Georgetown.

Thanks!

Do you or anyone here know how selective AU is? I understand it is getting harder each year.

George Mason may not be a very good school overall but for international relations, it is up there with American and GWU....plus it's cheaper!
