I’m applying to GWU (I’ll be a senior this fall.) I’m planning to apply early decision as an Anthropology major with a minor in French and I would really like some input on what my chances of being admitted might be!
GPA: 4.25
Rank: top 13% (maybe not accurate bc this was according to when my GPA was lower.)
ACT: 29 (math 26, science 26, reading 34, english 31)
Activities: Drama club all 4 years, improv team 3 years, amnesty international 1 year, chorus 1 year, SkillsUSA 1 year, youth group 3 years, NHS 2 years, International Thespian Society 2 years
Community service: Food bank, homeless shelter, library (weekly shift), various events and activities for NHS, raising charity funds
Leadership: secretary for ITS during junior year, VP for ITS during senior year, secretary for NHS senior year, makeup manager for theatre department 2015-16
AP: (my school doesn’t offer many AP classes bc we’re an IB school) AP US history (5), AP european history, AP comparative gov’t.
IB: IB social and cultural anthropology (6), IB lang and lit I&II, IB psychology
My dad graduated from UChicago so I’m not a GW legacy. I’m from Virginia and go to a pretty good public school!
Please let me know what you all think, and be honest! Will applying early decision help me get in? Do I have a solid chance of getting in no matter how I apply? Thank you!
