I’ve noticed in past years that Georgetown publicized the number of early applications they received shortly after the November deadline. Has anyone seen any indication as to how do this year compares?
@firstchildof2 The Hoya, the school’s newspaper usually publicizes it. Last year it publicized on December 15th, which technically is the official notification date. So I’d expect it to be posted around then. Good luck to everyone!!
There was a Nov 7, 2014 article in the Hoya last year on early numbers, but I guess they didn’t report on it for 2015.
Nothing from Georgetown in my mail, and I’m about 70 minutes from DC in Maryland.
Sorry this is a little off topic, but does anyone know if they compare applicants within the school they apply to (college, SFS, etc) or if that isn’t a big factor?
@fflzataraa at Georgetown you get admitted to the respective college not the school. So if you’re applying to college you won’t be compared to Sfs applicants. Hope that helps! Good luck
I live in MD, about 40 minutes to an hour away from DC, and didn’t get my letter today. Guess it’s most likely coming Monday for us in the DMV.
@Seafoam345 I agree, I live about an hour and a half outside of DC in Maryland, and I’ve gotten nothing. Monday must be the lucky day.
Hey it’d be really helpful if someone responded! So I haven’t applied to Georgetown and today I had the idea to. I know it’s not on the Common App, so I was wondering if somebody could tell me what the Georgetown application is like. Does it take a lot of time, how many essays are there, etc… thanks!!!
@ahhhhhomg it’s not that bad. you should take your time with it. there are 3 essays.
@ahhhhhomg three essays: one about an ec, one on “why georgetown/your college within georgetown”, and one free essay if i remember correctly
It has four parts. Part one is just signing up for an account to access the next part of your app. Part two is your basic info, like name, address, SSN, parent’s occupations, etc. There is also a section where you fill out extracurriculars, but it limits you to a certain number. (Six, I think?) Part three is sending emails to your reccommenders and your counselor to let them know how to get their letters to Georgetown. Part four is the essays. There are three of them. The first is a short one where you’re asked to talk about the extracurricular you’re most involved un. The other two are longer essays that should be around 500+i words. One is a “tell me about youself” kind of essay. They say it can be creative or anything you want, really. The last essay is a school-specific one. So if you apply to the college of nursing and health studies, for instance, it’ll be different than SFS’s.
