Georgetown Acceptance Chances

Hi everyone! I just wanted to know what your thoughts were about my changes of getting in to GU. I am in my school’s honor program. have taken all honors and 1 AP in my freshman and sophomore years and am currently enrolled in the IB diploma program and taking another AP. My GPA is a 4.0. I received a 27 on the ACT and I’m still waiting for my SAT II scores.

For extra curricular activities, I’m a dedicated member of the Varsity Soccer, Swimming, and Crew Teams. I founded and participate on the Model Congress/UN Team at my school, and participated in the Euro Challenge my freshman and sophomore years (I would’ve continued this but it’s only for freshmen and sophomores). I’m hoping to bring the Fed Challenge to my school as well. I am also part of the Investment team, Poverty Awareness Team, and Ambassador’s Program at my school. I’m also the president of my school’s NHS chapter. I’m a dedicated band member (since the 6th grade and continued throughout high school). I also worked as a summer camp counselor for 2 summers and a lifeguard, and work part-time at my parish. I received an Honorable Mention award from the National Teachers of Italian Contest, and won a math scholarship from my school. In addition, I will be attending Girls’ State this summer.

What do you all think? Do I have a good chance?

I don’t mean to sound harsh but your scores just aren’t where they need to be…27 is really low for Georgetown and you have a small number of AP courses. in addition to this, you’d need national awards or a great hook to overcome this.

@SouthernHope Thank you for responding and I appreciate your input! While it is true that I don’t have a lot of AP class, I am enrolled in IB classes (which is an advanced, international, college level program in which I take exams for college credit, just like I would do for AP classes)-basically every single class I take towards my diploma is either IB or AP (and then there’s phys Ed of course). Does this not have an impact? Thank you again!

OP, I’m also doing IB. But for the purposes of getting the credit, I took 3 APs (Lit, Spanish, Psych) since the IB classes prepared well for the exams in addition to IB Psych SL. Most of my fellow IB students did the same, if not more AP exams. Overall, your x-currics look good but your ACT needs to be higher to be competitive. Best of luck!

@BostonGurl42 thank you very much for your time and input, I really appreciate it!!!
