I want to do something with politics, so I'd be applying EA/ED to Georgetown College or Cornell CAS for Government (yaass both schools have gov majors). I have a 97 weighted GPA (our school only does weighted) and a 2150 on my SAT first try. My other tests after that have been 2200+ and I'm taking the SAT again in October. I have a bunch of extracurricular so there's that too I guess. I'm looking for a really good CX debate program since I'm a debater and an orchestra program too to have fun in in my free time. A sorority would be great too. I'd either be applying to Georgetown EA or Cornell ED but probably not both unless I'm set on Cornell. Which school do I have a better chance at and which school seems like a better scene for me? Thanks so much, I'm freaking out because I know for a fact Georgetown has a legendary policy debate team and Cornell has a great one too but Cornell I heard is cold and dingy.. but idk if I'd get into Georgetown or Cornell to not bet on an early choice. Also, does anyone know what either of the debate programs are like? I'm a PF debater but I've always wanted to do CX in college, but because of my inexperience I'd probably not get the full debate experience. Do I have to make a cut to get into the program? Will I never get to travel since the program is already so good and popular?

I personally think Georgetown is the better match. They value debate heavily and have a great sorority program, especially when you compare life in DC to Ithaca. Your current SAT Matches well too. Cornell is great, but for government I’d recommend EA or even ED at Georgetown.

As biased as I am toward Cornell, for government I would probably choose Georgetown, if only for the fact that you’re right in the heart of America’s government. I think Cornell fits your credentials as well, so if you were to get deferred EA at Georgetown I think Cornell would still be a great school for you to apply to! But if you’re choosing only one to apply to early, I would go with Georgetown.
