Georgetown college visit

I'm going to Georgetown next week, and I want to get the most out of my day there. It's a thursday. What should I check out? Any questions I should be sure to ask? How about spots on campus that I should see? Just anything... I want to get the most out of my short time thereThanks...!

COL '13 here.

Healy hall is the #1 place to go, to me that building is basically Georgetown’s history and character. Also check out Dahlgren chapel nearby.

You should also look at Lauinger Library, the ICC and Red Square, the business school building, and (if you’re math/sciency), Reiss and St. Mary’s. This is where most of the academia gets done. You should actually visit Lau and explore ICC floor 1 – this is where the majority of your studying and classes will be, respectively, and the tours won’t take you there.

See if you can’t get into the dining hall (I think you can pay to get in without a meal plan). It’s Thursday so they’ll be serving chicken fingers. Get those and sit down next to some random freshmen.

Now that I think about it, if you have specific major in mind, I would go to that department and talk to any undergraduates (not faculty or staff) you can find there (just ask, “are you a __ major?”). Ask them about their honest opinion of Georgetown’s department there. I probably should have done that on my college tours.

Also, chicken madness sub at Wisemiller’s grill (“Wisey’s”, 36th and N).

Agree.

Also the views from village a rooftop and leavey esplanade
Gaston hall (Obama recently spoke here)
Neighborhood Walking tour:
Walk out front gates down o street.
Passing holy trinity church on your right (John f. Kennedy attended church here)
When you get to Wisconsin ave. Make a right
Walk south towards prospect street
Make a right on prospect street and stop at peacock cafe for an espresso or cold drink.
Make your way back toward campus walking along prospect street or m street) When you get to 36th street look at the famous exorcist steps
, from the 70’s horror film the exorcist, on your left (active option: if you walk along m street instead of
prospect when you get to key bridge turn right and climb the exorcist steps)
Now it is time to eat. choose either the tombs (the bar that inspired
the 80’s movie st. Elmo’s fire) for a burger and a milk shake or go for the chicken madness at wise millers as suggested earlier. Both spots are on 36th between prospect and n streets.
Continue on 36th and make a left on o street towards the main gates.

Pre-visit films:
St. Elmo’s fire (perhaps on mute as rob Lowe is terrible)
The exorcist (if you aren’t afraid of demons)
