Georgetown Interview Anxiety

So I have wanted to go to Georgetown for as long as I can remember and I am about to submit my Early Action application. The only problem is the required interview. I have fairly severe social anxiety and struggle with talking to strangers, especially when there are fairly high stakes. I do not think there is anyway I could get through this interview. It’s so bad I think I’m going to have to withdraw my application. I’m crushed because I’ve always wanted to go there, but the only way I can apply is if I don’t have to interview. Has anyone had a similar experience and been able to exempt themselves from the interview, or are my dreams done?

Please do not let this be the reason that you do not apply EA to Georgetown! The format of an alumni interview is to share information with you and to make sure that your questions are all answered. It is the coziest, most supportive kind of interview that you will ever experience. The volunteers who give up their time to interview high school students are people who care about their college and who want you to love it, too.
There are questions that are standard for this kind of interview, like “tell me about your favorite class” or “why did you select a certain major” or “what is your favorite book.” Google to find lists of common questions, and think through your answers. Then meet with a favorite teacher or your college counselor or a friend’s mom, and have them run you through a practice interview.
