<p>I'm not too sure, but I think there's an area called the red square, and that's where people hang out. Also, the Healy Building is the most noticable building at Georgetown. I've been accepted to Gtown last year, but took a year off and will attend Fall 2005. Btw, tlaktan applied EA, so he doesn't go to Gtown, yet.</p>

<p>Well, the special talent questions is to be taken lightly. Just indicate a few things you like doing in your spare time. For mine, I put horseback riding, reading and cooking. You can even make it funny (ie. indicate quirky things)</p>
<p>For the essay, you just need to think of how Gtowon will help you in your future. For example, its academic reputation will prepare you for the most rigorous profession, and that the social aspect will allow you to make friends for life. You'll be able to learn life skills. The Gtown experience is more than just an education, etc. For mine, I also included a prospective career in medicine and how studying biology as a major, I'd be prepared for this field. Maybe if you tell me what you are planning to major in, I'd be able to better help you. Are you leaning towards any careers in particular even if you aren't 100% sure?</p>

<p>Georgetown has a very good English department. I'd focus on the fact that you are not too sure what you want to do, but you'd like to have your doors wide open. Emphasize that a Georgetown degree will prepare you for any of these occupations, and that the EC and resources will help you gain experience (ie. volunteering at a local school teaching kids, or working for a campus newspaper, or even for the Washington Post). You can mention each profession, and show how Gtown will help you achieve it. For example, there are tons of museums/galleries in DC. </p>

these are what i think are my talents/skills : art, photography, people/social skills, thinking outside the bos (creative thinking)</p>
<p>You may want to specify what type of art you like (ie. painting with oil paints, drawing with charcoal, etc.). Try to put it into a quirky paragraph. Something like... </p>
<p>To give my mind a rest once in a while, I like to spend my spare time painting. I particularily like oil painting, and have been doing it sicne I was 5. I have recently taken an interest in photography, and have just made the transition from black and white to color. </p>
<p>I find that my most coveted skill is that I am very good at making friends. Where ever I go, I end up starting conversations, and making friends. I guess you can call me a "people person". I know that this skill will help me in life, particularily during my time at Georgetown.</p>

<p>As a side note, when I was applying to Gtown, I seriously wasn't planning on going. But after a few universities rejected me, I began looking into Georgetown more and more. I ended up picking it over other prestigious schools like Brown and Penn. Either way, I am really happy to be going next fall! Good luck to you in all your apps!</p>

but I've just finished recovering from a Columbia rejection.. It was my dream school.. now I have to move on :)</p>

<p>Yeah, I read about that, sorry :( But don't worry, you'll soon realize that other schools are just as good as Colubmia. It all depends on your attitude! I was rejected by a few schools last year (including Columbia) but I moved on.</p>
<p>For the special talents, I said that I'm almost fluent in spanish, and that I will be certified as an EMT in January. </p>
<p>For the second essay, I talked about how I love languages and medicine, and a little about how devoted I am to them, and then talked about my goals to become a doctor and be fluent in Spanish, and how Georgetown is the perfect school to help me achieve these goals.</p>

<p>The special talents part was the most fun. I talked about my extensive knowledge of Figure Skating trivia.</p>
<p>As for landmarks, it depends who you are. Some people hang out in the library when they are doing work, and there are talking areas in the library that people are always socializing in.</p>
<p>Some people hang out in the Leavey Center in the big lounge and do work and talk.</p>
<p>Red square is really busy when classes are changing, and there are club tables there, but it's not really a hang out.</p>
<p>In other words, there is no one place where people sort of congregate, like at UVA people can always be found on the lawn working, but the only time people are on the quad working is like Sunday afternoon on a nice day-then there are a lot of people.</p>
<p>I think because the campus is so small you sort of see people all the time, so there is not one place people feel like they have to go to socialize.</p>
