I only got into Georgetown out of all my colleges and it wasnt exactly at the top of my list, so could one of you wonderful CC'ers please tell me just how great Gtown is?

Um, well. What is your school/major? Maybe that could help us highlight it a little more.

For one, it's in D.C. which is an amazing location for pretty much anything you're doing, especially if you're SFS. Great for internship opportunities. It's in an incredibly nice, well-kept, safer neighborhood (and wealthy!). It's removed enough that you get the college feel, but close enough that you can go into the city and shop on M-street if you want.

Its academics are top-notch as well. Languages especially are amazing at Gtown. It has a relatively low student-to-teacher ratio, so it's a mid-sized university that isn't tiny but also isn't enormous. It has a good balance of academics and athletics/school spirit, so you can be a superfan or not if you choose.

The campus is gorgeous (well...if you overlook Lauinger library :D) and very old and beautiful-looking. There are a lot of student orgs for whatever your interests are, be they political or ethnic or otherwise.

What I will say, however, is that you should have a good idea of exactly what you want to do when you go there. I think sometimes they tout themselves as more flexible than they actually are. How decided are you on a major?

im not all that decided, but I applied as a biology/pre-med major

^same, I'd like to know as well

Well, for you especially then, you can take advantage of Georgetown's early entrance program for med school. I believe (you can look this up for clarification) that you apply in your sophomore year, and if you get it, you don't have to take MCATs to be admitted to Gtown med school.

Plus Gtown hospital is well-known, so you can probably do an internship or something there.

whats the social life like at georgetown?
