Hello all,
I was recently admitted into both the McDonough School of Business and the Tepper School of Business. I am having trouble deciding between the two on a few criteria.
For me, price would be the same between both. I like the midwestern feel of Pittsburgh, but I love the political side of DC. Honestly, I am torn between location, so it is not the biggest factor. Both schools are around the same distance from home too.
I am looking for a school that can best set me up for a few different careers as I am not yet sure what I want to do with my life. I am looking to either go into law, a business start-up, or finance. At Georgetown, I would major in Finance or Economics with a minor in Computer Science. At Carnegie Mellon, I would major in Computational Finance with a minor in Computer science.
Georgetown
Pros:
- DC is beautiful
- More internships
- Big recruiting school for finance
- Ranked higher as a university
Cons:
- Not as strong in computer science
- Not really a technical education
- Not as prestigious of a business school
Carnegie Mellon
Pros:
- Cool midwestern vibe
- Strong computer science and overall business school
- Plenty of tech startups
Cons:
- Not a recruiting school in the financial world
- Not much of a background for law
