Hey guys, so my counselor insisted on mailing in her school report and mid-year report rather than using Georgetown’s system. My recommending teachers had no problem with using Georgetown’s system and so those appear as “Completed” in my application portal. My school report and mid-year report display as “Have not started yet” however, and I don’t know if there’s any way to check that the materials have been received since they were sent through snail mail and not online. I have not received an email about missing items, either. Does not using Georgetown’s college-specific forms matter? Thanks for the help!
I went through this with my counselor. The GU website says they “strongly prefer” that you use their online system. My counselor insisted on doing it her way and after a week, it was still listed as not started on the portal so I send her a reminder from the portal asking her to submit it that way. I would guess that if your counselor sent it snail mail, then it just takes time to get it into the system. You could always call the admissions office and ask, or reach out to your counselor and tell her you are concerned. I wouldn’t do nothing.
I was told that if it is sent through mail it will show “in progress” because the portal is independent of the admissions office entries. My counselor also prefers to send it in the mail, but he encloses a self-addressed stamp envelope in the package for the admissions office to slip in the email to confirm they got it. We have received the confirmation postcard each time. But yes…it took a long time
to get it posted. Also, we have had missing items before. They contacted us and I am sure they would do the same for you.
Yes, I called the admissions office and they said they would email me if any items were missing. Haven’t gotten an email yet so hopefully they have everything
