Georgetown/Notre Dame - A Last Minute Listing of Pros

Georgetown:
Vibrant social life and local atmosphere, Catholic affiliation, incredible dorms, great city location, good academics, a bad varsity tennis team that I may be able to play on

Notre Dame:
Awe-inspiring campus, best food imaginable, Catholic affiliation, excellent premed and business programs for undergraduates, lots of school spirit and interhall sports, close-knit community of South Bend

I'm making a decision in the next two hours, so comments asap would be nice.

The thing I remember most of my years at Georgetown was the incredible interest every one of my professors showed in their students. All were accesible and truly committed to the search for knowledge.

Georgetown is a place that will give you both a strong heart and strong mind, and will imbue in you the importance of using knowledge and your individuals talents to change the world. I think this larger worldview is what separates Georgetown from any other college. It is a special place.

wow, and I was about to comment on GU's dining and intramural options, but now it seems kinda petty next to Vienna Man.

I feel like all the pros you said about ND could be said about Georgetown, too... with the possible exception of the food (I dont know how good the food is at ND). But with the new Darnall restaurant and the ridiculous options of M Street and Wisconsin, you really can't go wrong in terms of food here.

Both great schools, but we would love to see you at here on the Hilltop!

this is the hardest decision of my life

gt is a close-knit community too, wouldn you say?

does financial aid play a factor?

what do you intend to major in? where are you from? do you have any concerns about going too far away from home?
kinda need more info here about yourself for us to provide you with input.

premed from los angeles no concerns no FA

indiejimmy pm me. i am a junior from socal wanting to play tennis at georgetown. i might know u

Just an impression. My friend's son goes to ND and my daughter will be a Hoya next year. It feels like there is a bigger Catholic presence on the ND campus. For example, the chair of his department is a nun and the RA of his dorm is a clergyman. That said, it doesn't seem to bother my friend's son at all and he is a non-practicing Catholic. I have never visited ND so it is a second-hand impression.

ND is commonly on the princeton review's list of dream schools. It has a 98% retention rate. ND football is incredible tradition, and bball isnt bad either. Yes south bend is a joke of a city in the middle of nowhere, but this only makes the school better: the students have nowhere to escape on the weekends= more students having parties/ creating their own fun= more school spirit.
