Hello everybody! I've narrowed down my choices to Georgetown and Berkeley (I'm on the wait list at the University of Chicago, but those odds aren't very high). I'm hoping to major in political economy(specifically international political economy if available). Could you help me weigh the pros and cons of each school? Thank you!

In terms of undergraduate experience and reputation, Georgetown is the better option, particularly for your area of interest.

berkeley has a much better political economy program.

^Perhaps at the graduate level but not in terms of undergraduate experience and reputation.

It’s sometimes helpful for you to really lay out your pros and cons personally. The difference in the education you receive between Cal and Georgetown will ultimately depend on what you make of it. There are however some really significant differences in campus culture.Where do you think you will thrive. With that said, my two cents, if IPEC is your thing DC has so many opportunities it is tough to turn down all the hands on work you have available to you. As some one about to enter the job market, the work experience I have gotten at Georgetown in DC has already played a significant role in what I am able to consider applying for. Now maybe you are more interested in academia. If that is the case, Georgetown’s program is definitely more policy oriented. These are all questions to consider. Let me know if you have any questions about Georgetown. Did you apply to the SFS or the College? Political Economy is housed in the College, international political economy in the SFS.

Bump for more reasons
