Georgetown or NYU or Syracuse...

MA in Arab Studies @ CCAS, Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Services, GT

MA in Near Eastern Studies/Business @ Kevorkian Center, NYU GSAS

MA in International Relations @ Maxwell, Syracuse

Dying for advice ! Which one's best if I want to get a job right after graduation & which is best if I want to continue and get a PhD ?

Frankly I don't know much about the job market for PhDs either. Back in college I majored in Standard Arabic. I'm not so gifted in math but still want to be a businesswoman in the future. What are my chances? Or should I say, is it even possible...

I don’t know much about each program, but on paper the NYU option seems to be a good option for you to find employment after graduation, as you will incorporate business classes in to your study.

The arabic studies seems to be most in line with your undergraduate degree, which might be a significant factor in potential phd program admissions.

The Georgetown SFS is among the best international relations schools in the world. That one would be best if you want to pursue a graduate degree

Georgetown SFS would, by far, be the best if you wanted to turn your Master’s into a job right away. As for pursuing a PhD, I don’t know which would be better.

Georgetown SFS is the best option from the three schools. Georgetown SFS has a campus running in the Education City at Qatar. If they offer MA at Education City campus, you should definitely check it out. Its a wholesome experience of Arab world and one of the best faculties in the world for foreign services.

Well if it were MSFS then there’s no doubt, I’d definitely choose Georgetown. But I’m not so sure about MAAS. Is it possible to get the degree and an IBD certificate within 2 years? The IBD seems quite popular as it appears on its own website…

Well, experts in Arab language and culture are in hot demand in the US Government right now, if that’s an option you want to keep in mind. I don’t know much about the IBD, though.

Georgetown is the only school you should consider out of these.

The Maxwell School @ Syracuse is currently ranked #1 in its field by USNWR.

That’s higher than EVERYWHERE ELSE, including the ivies…
