@tyrtle I am sick of your negative attitude. You are right, I’m not getting into those schools! I’m competing against people who are way more qualified! But what if someone sees my potential, sees my love for the college, and sees my diversity factor? Yes, I do think I have a 1% chance, it’s not BS. And I’m applying to many match schools, like Martin Luther College and a community college so I know I will get in there. I just wanted one reach school just to try. I don’t think there is nothing wrong with that.

If anyone sees your potential, it would be the university of Chicago. I’m saying this because u of C weights extracurriculars and ESSAYS much heavier than Georgetown does. GU tends to stick to their ranges…4.3-4.6 weighted Gpa, 32-34 ACT as UofC tends to take more chances on trust diverse students… Like your cousin. It’s a no brainier to me… Despite georgetowns slightly lower averages

@illinoiswisco oh my gosh, thank you so much! That’s exactly the information I was looking for! Thanks again!

depends on your major. Both are similar in difficulty levels as reaches for you as others and yourself have pointed out. If you’re going for political sci go for Georgetown, anything else IMO go for uchicago.

It would be a little tough to say from what you’ve given us. It’s true that UChicago DOES weigh ECs and essays MUCH heavier, but from what I see in your ECs, it doesn’t seem too good. Two clubs that don’t display too much leadership is not the way to go. Try bringing those up and I’m sure it’ll look better!

I know someone that had a 3.5 GPA , 1800 SAT score, but GLORIFIED their essay, and was an Eagle Scout. He got into UChicago.

Although I WOULD advise you to try to take the SATs JUST in case.

There’s still time to get your test scores up

Dude, you can’t base chances off your cousin. 4 years ago, Georgetown’s 25-75th percentile range was 26-33, now its 29-33. You’re quite below the 25th percentile. Now, Uchicago’s scores are probably MUCH HIGHER. So, no matter how good your stuff is, you won’t get in without a hook. That class rank isn’t good enough for Chicago or Georgetown. I currently attend Chicago, and don’t know anyone with an ACT below 30 or SAT below 2050. I recommend trying the SAT. You’ll have to get a 2200+ to compensate for that rank.

@jaxi101 apply to Georgetown cause they accept more students. It will be really difficult for you to get accepted into University of Chicago due to the lower acceptance rate. As brown234 said, it will be really difficult to justify for your test score, but you would have a better chance at Georgetown than University of Chicago.

I’d go for University of Chicago over Georgetown. I like their academic feel better. They are both great schools and it is a hopelessly biased question. Pick the one you like the most.

jaxi101,

Any updates ?
