-3.65 GPA UW at prestigious private school in the South-West (4.33 = A+, 4.0 = A, etc). My school does not give bumps for honors/AP classes
-School doesn't rank, but I am approximately 15/105
-Very smart school with very little grade inflation (e.g. the top 10% ranges from ~3.7-~4.1)

Hopefully double majoring in economics and political science. I HAVE visited all the campuses except Penn. My writing is pretty good (or at least that's what I'm told!), so my essays should be solid especially at UChicago. I know my GPA looks low for typical applicants at these schools, but am fairly confident that at some other schools it would be a bit higher (I know how terribly arrogant that sounds, but I go to a very smart school with very little grade inflation, as I said). Thanks and I'm willing to chance back! Just provide a URL.

You have an English course called “I, Claudius”? So do you just read that one book (or 2 books, if you read the sequel) the whole trimester? Those books aren’t particularly long… seems a little odd.

Anyway, Brandeis is a definite safety. Tufts is around a target to lowish target. Georgetown is a low reach and Penn is a medium/high reach.

oh actually I, Claudius is a history course for us. it centers around study of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, but uses the book as the primary text i guess. i just decided to take it because i love ancient rome and latin (as you can see in my curriculum) and it fits rather nicely in my schedule.

any thoughts on u of c?

Oh that actually sounds like a pretty cool course, I always wondered how much of that book was historical and how much was fiction.
Yeah I guess UChic is somewhere between Georgetown and Penn, although they tend to take a more holistic approach I guess so the essay probably weighs a bit more heavily there

well having a 3.65 GPA at your school is more impressive than a 4.2 at most so dont worry about that, the ACT is SOLID so dont retake and dont retake the BIO, anything over 700 on an SATII is impressive even for the very top schools so focus on USH or any other one you might be taking, i think you have excellent ECs. I loled at the snack bar, thats awesome!!! Colleges love eagle scouts, im not sure why and your awards are impressive, i dont know how youre going to take Calc BC before AB, its not like you can skip integration, but w/e here are your chances.

Penn-SLIGHT reach
UChicago-match
GTown-low match
Tufts-low match
Brandeis-low match

Hope this analysis was in the slightest way helpful and GOOD LUCK!!
chance me back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/735932-chance-me-i-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

oh well earning my eagle was probly the hardest thing ive ever done. it takes patience, leadership, hard work, etc. i guess thats why. as for BC, my precal class moved rather quickly and we’ve already learned the longhand way to do integrals and ive learned the fundamental theorem of calculus by myself. and im a pretty solid math student anyways…

thanks a lot? anymore?
btw, what does bump mean?

i’d say you are a match for georgetown, tufts, and brandeis. uchicago would be a slightly higher match. and penn, as it is for most everyone, would be a reach just because of how highly selective it is. your stats are really great, but i think i would consider finding a really SAFE safety school. while i think you could get into most of your list, and i’m assuming brandeis is your safer one, you should try and find an even safer school just in case. good luck!!!

yeah thanks! thats not my whole list, i just figured “why make people write ‘safety’ for the schools that i know i’ll get into?”

my whole list is
BC*
Brandeis
Chicago
Georgetown
UPenn
University of Richmond*
SMU*
Texas A&M*
Tufts

 • denotes safety

buuuummmmpppppppppppp

i think you have a good chance at all of them, but penn might be a reach depending on which school you apply to - artsci, wharton, nursing, or engineering. as long as you write good essays, that should help, and good recs will help you also. solid grades and good ecs. i took the world sat II in june also and got a 660, much harder than i expected. good luck though!

ps. why do you wanna go to uchicago - it’s where fun goes to die? lol just kidding

Penn- low reach
UChicago-match
GTown-low match
Tufts-low match
Brandeis-low match

ull deff get in 3 maybe you should try the UCs

your gpa is alright but idk if you can make note that there is no weighted gpa. Im sure you’ll do very good where ever you go

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/737455-admission-theses-schools-waaahaa.html</a></p>

i was thinking about taking the act how was the science section

the science section just takes practice. i did a few practice tests and i was set: 33.

ive got a whole slew of reasons why i want to go to chicago haha… but thats what my essay is for

bumpity bump bump

UChicago - Match
Georgetown - 50/50, Sometimes Georgetown is pickier than the Ivies
Penn - REACH (It’s Ivy League, meaning it’s a reach for everyone)
Tufts - No Idea
Brandeis - No idea

You may want to retake USH SAT II, but your ECs and Awards are great!

yeah im gonna take USH SAT II (because i was clueless on World Hist) retake Bio M and possibly Lit just for the heck of it. thanks!

bumpp

slight reach/ reach at upenn
