GEORGETOWN or UT AUSTIN for business

Georgetown and UT-Austin are my top 2 schools, and I’m having trouble deciding which would be best for a career and dealing with costs

Georgetown:
Washington, DC
FInAid reduces cost of attendance to about $18k/year
McDonough School of Business

UT-Austin:
Austin, TX
In-state tuition & outside scholarships reduce cost of attendance to $0 freshman year, and about $8000/each year after
Admitted to Business Honors Program

Both Washington DC and Austin are wonderful cities, and I know I would be content with either location.

UT’s alumni network and “college” feel with big athletics, sororities, and Austin’s food and live music are extremely appealing. However, Georgetown is in DC, one of my favorites cities, has the Catholic traditions I want in a school, and I like its preppy vibe.

Is Georgetown’s name and location closer to big East Coast banks worth the extra costs? I would have to take out loans there. Or, is UT-Austin’s Business Honors Program reputable enough to get my foot in the door?

How big of a deal is the money for you? Georgetwon was very nice whe I was there but I definitely got a very competitive vibe. I also felt that it was much more focused on politics and similar areas of study. However, it’s a great school and I think either will be a good choice. If you foresee grad school in the future I would suggest saving money but that’s just me.
