Hello Eveyone, recently I was rejected by Georgetown and spoke with an admissions officer who told me to contact my regional officer who then proceeded to tell me to contact admissions (again) At that point I was informed in order to write an appeal to Georgetown I would have to write a letter to the Dean of Undergraduate Admissions which I did and sent it to my regional officer. It was all a long process and I was just wondering if anyone else has appealed there and has been successful? I know it is very rare especially at a private institution, but I’m still curious to know.
Good luck @oscarmurillo15 ! If I was the Dean, I would review your applicant file personally just because of the sheer courage and persistence it would take a student to go through the hassle of a process that is really unheard of. Keep us posted of the result and what you are told, please.
I wouldn’t expect much of it. Personally, it sounds like they’re stonewalling you. Otherwise, everyone who they reject would appeal and they’d have to deal with it all.
I assume that’s what they are trying to do. When I emailed my regional officer he seemed a bit mad and said I shouldn’t have had to email him, but regardless he gave me the information I needed. Afterwards I spoke with an admissions officer who told me the complete process and I wrote my letter and attached new 4 LOR which I know seems a bit excessive but they were from my Superintendent, Principal, Counselor, and Teacher all directed to the Dean. I hope the Dean alone personally reads it, but I understand that they probably don’t want more people to appeal to have to read more information when they had already made their final decision. I have to give it my all and just hope for the best.
