Is it unusual/bad to get an email from admissions asking to explain something very minor on a transcript?
I was nervous before but now I got deferred from BC and now I’m even more nervous… at least I feel better overall about my georgetown app than my bc one

super nervous,only one applying from my school. i’m dual enrolled and i got a c in a class unrelated to SFS so I’m guessing my chances are shot . does anyone know someone’s who’s been deffered and gotten in with just okay senior year grades ? BTW I still made the dean’s list

@branddreams22 I can totally relate! I also got a C+ my first semester of AP Chemistry my sophomore year. I’m applying to MSB, but I hope that isnt a deal breaker. I’ll let you know what my letter says tomorrow, but their admissions process sounds holistic enough that one C shouldn’t be a deal breaker.

A semester grade really shouldn’t impact your chances too much, especially if it’s in a subject you’re not studying.

@genuinememe I thought so too, but I got a C in freshman year in 1 credit elective course (that didn’t factor into GPA and has nothing to do with SFS-related subjects) and Georgetown emailed me asking me to provide an explanation for said grade a few weeks ago. Not quite sure what they were looking for/why they put focus on that but it scares me lol.
Will New Jersey get it tom or probably Saturday?
@ttp776 wait ok so i got a C in AP chemistry during my sophomore year, but i was never asked to explain the grade. would that mean they rejected me outright?

@branddreams22 I know someone in the SFS class of 2020 who got in with one C and at least 4-5 Bs. They’re legacy though and had great essays and ECs. Good luck!
@angstyforadmission1 I honestly doubt that. I assume they’re just checking that it wasn’t because of disciplinary issues and it might just be the person who had my report (at least that’s my counselor’s take on it lol). It’s just an uncomfortable feeling.
@branddreams22 I wouldn’t draw attention to it honestly, especially if the rest of your app speaks for your standing. It’s not a big deal and they’ll ask if they need anything. Talk to your counselor though, who knows.
