Office opens at 9 right?
Are we sure that usps still delivers regular mail on Sundays during the holidays, or just packages??
“What kinds of packages can I expect to receive on Sundays?
The types of packages delivered on Sundays will be ultimately dependent on volume levels, however Priority Mail packages will be the primary type delivered to residential customers. It could also
include First-Class packages. Customers who live in an area serviced by Amazon Sunday deliveries will continue to receive them on Sunday.”
This is what it says on the usps website… are the georgetown letters sent under these constraints?
@leeleecookie I don’t think so
@justliviglife No, hawaii equals high cost of living and living a rock prison but beaches are a plus lmao
@rvwlxejvhn Yep, I’ve heard this before. I wasn’t sure other were having the same experiences:/ Sorry to hear that.
@justliviglife,
sorry, what option are you referring to on the portal? Are you referring to being able to get in and edit the original application, or click on regular decision January 2018? I started a thread about “next steps if deferred” and wonder if you or anyone knows if Admin will take a fresh look at the application or just accept an update letter with newest leadership activities, awards, senior fall grades…? or if one can add or change, for example, something to an essay. Might have to contact Admin if you or nobody here knows for sure.
Got my results in Big Island, Hawaii (Accepted)
@rvwlxejvhn congrats!!! what school did you apply to?
Congrats @rvwlxejvhn,
Well done. Do you mind posting your rough stats and which school you applied to?
@justliviglife @silverlemon oh rip
@Nomorelurker I actually have not gotten my decision yet, but I believe you just send a continued letter of interest if deferred. There’s not really a formal process (I don’t think), but many of those who got deferred will be sending new essays, updating their resumes, etc., so it will definitely help if you send stuff to keep them updated and also to let them know that you’re still very much interested.
Talk to your counselor. Contact your interviewer and rep.
@justliviglife
So you think that in addition to a letter of continued interest, one can go in and change or add to the essay(s) for RD application? Always room to improve things, if it is permitted. It appears one can do it but I suppose will have to check with Admissions, obviously NOT tomorrow when they will be inundated with calls. Don’t think counselor would be helpful, but will definitely need to get the scoop once things quiet down in the next couple of days. Good luck to you and all who have not heard anything yet!
@Nomorelurker I would definitely check with someone about additional essays because I have no idea. If I get deferred, I’ll inquire about the essay thing and let you know.
@JustLivingLife Just to clarify, not talking about additional essays, referring to the ability to tweak existing ones. In other words, will the reader take a fresh look at the application as if it were not read before or just look at a letter sent updating certain things…
they give a full re-read to deferred applicants at RD
@Nomorelurker Oh, I see! As dehcollege2017 said, they re-read your whole app. However, you’ll definitely want to send in something new.
@Nomorelurker Sure. I applied as a Government major to Georgetown College and my stats are as follows:
SAT: 1300 (Probably the weakest part of my application.)
Subject tests: N/A at the time of EA (Probably good because my December subject tests were mediocre).
Essays: 8/10 to be honest.
Recommendations: Amazing. Close to the teacher who wrote my letter.
Extracurriculars: I had a lot (Strongest aspect of my application). 3 years of cross country and track. 4 years of soccer. Sophomore class treasurer. Junior class secretary. Currently Hawaii State Student Council representative. Also a part of the YMCA of the Youth and Government program where I was a former Senate Clerk and currently delegation vice president. National Honor Society (secretary last year, vice president this year). I’m also a part of HOSA where I compete for Prepared Speaking
Experience: This summer as a national park ranger and an intern for the Honolulu office of Senator Brian Schatz.
My SAT’s were bad, but they truly are holistic!!
@rvwlxejvhn Ayyy Youth and Gov! Hopefully my experience pushes me through despite my scores as well!
@rvwlxejvhn
That is nice to see that they are holistic in looking at applicants. Scores on standardized tests are not everything! Looks like you have some great activities and are passionate about what you want to study. Great job!
