Good luck to everyone who has yet to hear/was deferred and congrats to those who have been accepted! Go Hoyas!
@violet14 I actually didn’t take any subject tests. Honestly, I’m a bit shocked that I got accepted to SFS but maybe something else stood out in my application. Who knows the admission process is different for everyone in a way I guess.
I got deferred but really confused about why as I go to one of the top private high schools in my state and have a 3.8 UW GPA and 33 ACT. Also my essays and letters of rec were amazing
@latte12 Usually school counselors can call and ask what the student was lacking in an application so maybe ask your counselor to call the admissions office. You seem to be pretty solid in your academics, maybe it was extracurriculars???
@dowzerw Thanks for your kind words! I am definitely interested in GWU and the D.C college experience in general because of the amazing opportunities that you mentioned. I am currently trying to figure out how important an urban location is to me … I didn’t really consider it when I chose schools to apply to. I don’t want to miss out on any good schools (like William and Mary, UVA, and UMD) just because they aren’t in a big city but at the same time I am worried that my happiness will be adversely affected by location. Then again, it’s also possible I could learn to love a non-urban setting if I liked the school enough. It’s all so hard since these non-urban schools are appealing in basically every other regard.
@maddyduv I really liked UVA as well! I grew up among many alumni (I live in NOVA) and know personally of people who have found good internships in the city. Despite how much I loved UVA when I toured it, I just did not really like Charlottesville for some reason. It isn’t a bad town by any means, but it is just so similar to the area I grew up in and I prefer D.C a lot more. That being said, UVA is an amazing school for me in every aspect except its location.
@iwanttogetintocollege,
Have you thought about Emory? Urban, similar ranking as Georgetown though maybe not quite as prestigious, and decent weather. Also, don’t know your financials but Emory has a huge endowment.
@iwanttogetintocollege that is completely understandable!!! Actually, one of the most important things for me when looking at schools was that it was new and unfamiliar, so I absolutely get your hesitations with UVA. Regardless, I’m sure you’ll end up somewhere amazing!
I have the informed delivery app…and it shows that sometime today I will get my “deferred letter”. (MA).
I have 34 ACT 100.5/100GPA 3/115 class rank great ECs and leadership roles
Bummed, but motivated to send in some extra information that hopefully gets me accepted in RD. Good luck to everyone today!
The app doesn’t work for me. It basically says I have never gotten any mail and will not get mail today. It shows packages that have come, but no actual mail. Argh
