Georgetown

It seem to me like for ibanking and consulting recruiting Georgetown undergrad business is a really good school. makes it on to almost all the recruitment lists. So why is it ranked in the 20s for undergrad business? and some of the schools that are above it are not as heavly recruited?

Rankings dont matter to alumni. Recruiting is spearheaded by alumni. As there are a lot of alumni from Gtown at the banks they end up going there to recruit new employees. You must understand that in business academics arent of top priority. So all these rankings are more or less useless. Your goal is to build connections and go to a place with a lot of corporate presense. People are way too fixated on rankings to realise that those silly little places really dont matter to recruiters. Business isnt like the sciences-everything cannot be codified. Its more of a social field people matter more than numbers.

then what about smaller schools: amherst williams...there are a lot of people from those schools that work at ibanks but they arn't that heavly recruitted?

Umm Amherst and Williams are two of the MOST recruited colleges for ibanks and consulting firms.
