My son has been accepted into several but we are now narrowing down between Georgia Tech, Case Western and UC Santa Barbara. We are in state CA so UCSB is cheapest option, about 32-33K. Case Western is about 35-36K and Gatech is 41-42K.

He is interested in Biomedical Engg as of now. The other option is to do major in Electrical Engg and minor in Biology/BME. UC Santa Barbara doesn't offer BME in undergrad, but it has electrical engg and a strong biology program. At present he has been accepted in UCSB under Pre-biology major and we have applied for major change to electrical. But we will only know after May 1st (though most likely it will be accepted).

We are visiting Case on thursday/friday (apr 12/13) and gatech on 22/23rd.

We visited Case and loved it… We weren’t even considering it, but because they offered so much $ (grant, scholarship & fa), I felt we owed it to ourselves to look. Cleveland is no way as bad as what I’ve read on CC. It’s a very pretty city with unique architecture and cultural offerings. The bad element next to school is no way as bad other schools, like Yale, Upenn, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, etc.

Now what we liked about Case:
Amazing facilites, dorms, great dining hall and food selection, classrooms, Beautiful campus, vicinity of hospitals (across the street-actually on campus), suburban campus feel (although it is listed as an urban school), way safer than what I imagined. Welcoming atmosphere, diversity, great engineering facilities and faculty, free printing, free transit on/off campus to city, free laundry, great school spirit and great FA!
