SAT: 2260 (790 Reading, 710 math, 760 writing)

GPA: 4.0 unweighted

APs: I have completed 10 so far, will have 17 by when I graduate
Senior course load: 7 APs and DL Calculus though GA Tech (calc 2 and multivariable calc)
Extracurricular: Mu Alpha Theta, Science Olympiad, Academic Team (Team captain in 12th grade, state champions last year)

In state
Essay: pretty weak to be honest

Other weak spots: My SAT math score is below the average for Tech, and my AP Calc BC score was a 3. I also feel like my Extracurriculars are lacking as I have no service and very little leadership.

@Kvothe24 your stats are the spitting image of one of my classmates! I think you’ve got a good shot. Do you have any community service or a job? Anything non academic that adds to your application

no

@Kvothe24 , are you in state?

I’m guessing that tech is big on service since thats their motto, but I don’t think that is a make/break factor. You have very good stats, and given that you are doing DL calc-thats a plus. I’m sure you have a good shot as @ismitah said.

If you are doing well in DL calc, then you should not have much trouble; although I have a question: How did you get accepted in DL if you had a 3…i thought the cut off was a 4. Did u get an A in calc? I am not trying to offend you, but am just wondering. I have some friends who got rejected and they had 4/5’s.

@Kvothe24 , of course you are in state. You are taking DL! Haha. Sorry, I didn’t think about that.

I think you should get in @Kvothe24 but may get deferred to RD just because apps were up so much for EA. Plus they could want to see how your semester grades are especially in calc. Does your school have naviance so you can see where you fall in regards of the other people at your school in terms of scores and GPA. One of our friends did not get into GT last year with pretty similar stats as you and by the naviance chart he was one red mark in a sea of green marks. It’s not common with good stats but can happen if you get a bad combo of less than stellar recs, essays, and EC. He did get into VA Tech and is really happy there. I think you have a good shot for GT but would apply to some solid safeties too just because apps are up so much this year it’s really hard to tell what will happen.

Okay, I’m confused when they talk about applications. They said they got 14,200 applications right? Which is more than last years. But online it says that tech got 14,600ish applications last year. Am I getting something wrong?
