Just wanted to let everybody know that Georgia Tech updated its MyDecision page and it looks so much prettier now.
@Xboxgamergirl so I’m pretty sure we’re not getting decisions on Buzzport this year.
Also, Happy New Year guys!

@ifizzle321 I’m pretty sure that you are correct.
Hey guys! My New Year isn’t until Jan. 9th. Also, what is up with the locked Buzzport and “the announcement”?
Buzzport is not locked for me, but I can’t find “the announcement” that you guys are talking about.
Edit: I found an old email that led me to the form for scholarships/financial aid.
I dont even know what “the announcement” is. I guess we have to wait for @itsmyusername to get back to us.
And yeah, my buzzport is locked for some reason. But I don’t think it has to do with decisions. @ifizzle321 pointed out that there is a decision page on techs website, so chances are-that we will get decisions from there.
Oh, wait. I think the “announcement” was referring to the fafsa/aid form on buzzport (read the conversations from like the previous 2 pages)
Good luck to all of you. My son is a Junior in CS at GT and I provide information to all those accepted in Connecticut but can generally answer most questions about the school to everyone. One of the things they tell you in the beginning is if you are an A student, you will likely be a B student at GT. Average freshman GPAs are in the 2.9-3.2 range for most of the departments. You will improve and there are some courses that are curved. He started out with a 3.45 freshman year, got a 3.75 Sophomore year and a 4.0 (Faculty Honors) this last semester. The most selective companies (Microsoft / Facebook / PWC) out there generally look for a 3.4 or better from what I’ve seem on their websites.
Generally there are questions about the Honors Program. While there is a significant % of students from overseas (about 10-12%) 98% of the Honors students are American and GPA is not the primary reason you get selected. Its about how well rounded you are. You take 5 Honors courses, two are CORE and the other three are elective. My son just took an elective about Robin Hood and how he compared to other people (like Zorro). While it sounds bizarre as a college course, it counts towards his Honors designation.
Unfortunately their Football team was really bad this year.
GT targets 60% in state, 10% non US and the rest OOS.
When you reread your response to Georgia Tech’s “Unbound Future” prompt so you can use it in another essay and realize that you made an error
One of my sentences had the phrase “…Georgia Tech can provide will help me…”
@ifizzle321 , lol. Thats why you shouldn’t go back and read it lol. But how else are you supposed to put that phrase in a sentence. I think having that is absolutely fine! I mean, as long as you also included something specific about gt.
@Xboxgamergirl it was just a part of the sentence, but the fact that I typed both “can provide” and “will help me” consecutively is driving me insane. I swear I read my responses about 100 times before I hit submit. I’ll probably get over it eventually lol. :)) And thank you for your positivity!
I heard there were about 15,000 applications for EA this year. What do you guys think the acceptance rate for EA will be?
Sorry guys! I didn’t mean to be suspenseful, lol. I was just wondering if next to Rick Clark’s letter on Buzzport, under the blue heading that says “Personal Announcements”, if anyone else saw a link that said “Apply Now for 2016-2017 Georgia Tech Scholarships and Financial Aid!”. (I didn’t fill out the form from the email).
I’m sure it’s nothing but I can’t help a little paranoia when the decisions are this close, haha.
@itsmyusername , haha you’re fine! You did make us all wait the whole day for the “announcement” lol! Yeah! I see that on the main page of my buzzport!
@QuiteAverage90 I think it will be about a 40-43% EA acceptance rate with 50-55% women. And a overall 28% acceptance
@Xboxgamergirl lol, thanks! Fireball and Kazoo didn’t have it, so I was just wondering why.
@Xboxgamergirl lol, higher in-state acceptance too! I guess the acceptance rate will be somewhere closer to UGA’s, being in-state early applicants and females…
@CHCollege123 , boss-I hope you are right. I could use a higher in state acceptance rate. But yeah, I think they r gonna accept a little less than last year-which was around a 45ish % for early action. They might accept less than what uga accepted due to rivalry.
Uga had a nice, strong pool this year.
Guys, I just checked the decisions website https://mydecision.gatech.edu/decisions/index.jsp
When I clicked on the Freshman decisions link, the page was not opening up. I guess it is locked for decisions.
Good Luck everyone!
Found these statistics on the GIT website from last year:
11702 applicants for EA, 5273 accepted (45%)
15568 applicants for RD, 3248 accepted (20.86%)
There were 27270 applications in total. I think the EA acceptance rate will be anywhere from 40% to 45% (at highest).
