Georgia Tech ECE Rigor + Environment

Hi all,

This answer to this question is really important to me, and I would appreciate every response:

How is Georgia Tech’s ECE program in terms of rigor and difficulty? A lot of people are telling me that GaTech in general is difficult, and that it is really hard to maintain a good GPA. Is this true?
This seems slightly discouraging, since I want to maintain a good GPA and go on to find good jobs/internships.

Is GaTech (ECE) a very competitive environment? Or is it a very collaborative, help-each-other based attitude?

Thanks!

I"ll take a stab at what I know about GT. (I am a parent). It may depend on your preparation and how hard you want to work, as far as how tough ECE will be for you. It may also depend on your math aptitude.

Tech is going to require a lot of problem sets. If you like that sort of thing, it will be less painful than if you find you do not like to work a lot of hard problems. Tech has a high number of credits required to graduate with a bachelors degree, for most engineering majors. You can look up ECE and see what you need to graduate now. Plan wisely and you can do it in four years. Tech allows some humanities electives to be taken pass fail. Thats good to know up front to plan how to use those Pass fail credits to your best advantage.

My sense is that Tech is collaborative. The fraternities are supportive social environment to get help on homework.
The freshman living arrangements sound fairly supportive too.

Thanks @Coloradomama !
