the prompt is "You are about to write your future college roommate a letter. Please provide the roommate with a personal story that will give him/her some insight into your personality." am i supposed to actually write or intro it as a letter? or just write the story? thanks!

Just write what you think will look better. Out of all people whom I know in real life and who applied to Georgia Tech, no one chose this essay, and I did not choose this one either. I think, this essay is going to be the least chosen, which gives you an opportunity to write something unique and memorable.

I wrote on this topic. I began and ended addressing the imaginary roommate, but most of the essay was just me telling a story that showed something about me.

The way I finished it was by saying something along the lines of “I’m very passionate about X because of Y; I’m excited to see what you’re passionate about”

I think the idea was to tell a personal story that one would tell to one’s peers.

They would probably like you to actually write a “letter,” but if you don’t, I don’t think they’d have too much of a problem with it. You could call up and ask.

Contrary to Filoleg, most of the people I know wrote on this topic, and about 75% of my school applies to GA Tech. I wrote the intro and everything, but some people didn’t. It really just depends on how you choose to organize your essay. This really isn’t that useful since EA date has past but i guess it could be for RD people.
