Georgia Tech Name

I am from Pennsylvania and was accepted early action civil engineering in november.

Ive been reading some older posts comparing Georgia Tech to other schools (ex aubourn) and most arguements are that GT is superior in regards to job opportunities compared to schools like aubourn, UGA, UT etc.

Obviously GT has a superior engineering program than those schools and many others from the south but how does the GT name resonate throughout the country? Do most GT graduates receive the majority of job offers from companies in the South or is GT highly regarded throughout the US?

This is a big factor in whether or not I choose to attend GT (it is the only southern school Ive applied to) because if I do attend GT, I dont want to be limited to job opportunities only in the South.

Georgia Tech is one of the top schools in the world and is known everywhere. National reputation is not a problem.

The thing is that in the Southeast, GT is THE engineering school. It’s unquestionably the best program in the region. Nationally, GT is not THE engineering school (obviously, there’s MIT, Stanford, Caltech, UIUC, etc) but it’s one of the best.

You won’t be limited to jobs in the South. I can think of friends that now work in all corners of the nation.

GT’s biggest alumni association is actually in Houston, not Atlanta.
