Georgia Tech or UCSD for Bioengineering?

Firt of all, Congrats to the member who were accepted and and good luck to the ones are still waiting, keep crossing your fingers.

I was accepted to Gatech and UCSD both for bioengineering (and others that i dont really care) with funding. I know that Gatech and UCSD are both top 2 in bioengineering programs according to the USNEWS. However, Gatech is the top 4 and UCSD is in the top 14 in best school in engineering. That is a big difference.

I had many friends who went to UCSD and said it is very good but not as good as GaTech in terms of engineering power. Most of my friends suggested me, to go to Gatech. But I'm confused and I want to make a right choise having a lot of information. They mentioned La Jolla is a beautiful place compare to Atlanta and life is much better.

What school is the best for doing a phd in bioengineering, in terms of doing excellent research, getting a job after finishing it, and which one sound more renowned?. I don't really care about cities since I'll be probably a f...ing slave during my phd studyies, with no life and no time to enjoy. I think all of us had taken into account that before pursuing a phd.

Thanks to all the members who will give me suggestions.

Plz give me some hints, Help me to decide!!!

There’s alot of biotech companies in San Diego, and UCSD’s reputation in biotech research is very well known.

Georgia tech’s biomedical engineer program is well known and respected due to the fact that it is joint program with Emory University. I don’t know much about ucsd program but I attended undergraduate at georgia tech and will be pursuing my master in electrical engineering so I will tell u few things I have heard about biomedical engineer. Biomedical facility is huge and it is working directly with emory medical school. There is new nanotechnology building built right next to biomedical engineer school which will aid biomedical area with nano technology. With one of top class medical school in the nation working right next georgia tech, and computer science program aiding biomedical data calculation and electronic device developed for biomedical area through in school of ece, I believe biomedical engineer at georgia tech will continue to excel. I believe you will have good job prospective coming out of georgia tech with phd.
