I got in for bioengineering(warren) major at ucsd. How does this program compare against such places like Ivies, Duke, JHU...in terms of academics and overall reputation?

bioeng at ucsd is at least top 5 of all universities according to most rankings.

its like thee best

It is world renowned. Excellent program for a public school.

Yup. I just wanted to add that one of my good friends goes to Georgia Tech and said that it's a "[heck]aaaa good school" for Bioengineering and he's going to apply there for his graduate studies. He got accepted to UCSD, too, for freshman year, but he went to GA Tech instead. For him to leave GA Tech for UCSD for Graduate studies says a lot, even though both schools are excellent institutions.

well... its all the way up there. Best in the west =D

how about the human biology? is that good at ucsd?

UCSD's Bioengineering program is ranked #3 in UG programs (US News World Reports 2005), after Johns Hopkins (1) and Duke (2).

Congratulations on your acceptance to the BME program. UCSD's BME program is my 2nd choice after Duke BME when I apply this Fall.

Gotta thank Scribe for that link. It's really great... the UCSD students are very prepared for the influx of Anxious Freshmen of '05-'06 and are very helpful.

how can i post a message there?

For starters, sign up for an LJ account. And then when you have your account ready, you can log-in, go to the community and click on the community's User Info, and there should be an option somewhere at the top of the profile that says "If you would like to join this community, click here."

Welcome to LJ! Though my account is a "Friend's Only" account. But that's irrelevant info. Goodness, I need to sleep. :)

does any one know if college choices have much effect on your major choice?
I am an international, i was just accepted to muir bioengineering, and i was wondering if the college choice makes much of a difference.

they say major does not matter when you are assigned to a college. The college can only take like 600 students. But overall I thnk the major could be a factor for getting in or not to UCSD.
