Hi, I’m a senior ('16) and I had a question about Georgia Tech’s PSP Scholarship. The website said that the applications had to be in by the EA deadline, which is October 15th, but I was wondering if I had to apply EA to be eligible. Or can I apply RD but just submit the app by Oct 15? The reason I’m asking is because I wanted to apply to Princeton SCEA, and I can’t apply there and Georgia Tech EA. Or can I? I don’t think so… Anyhoo, that was my question. I’m not sure if it’s in teh right subforum, but oh well.
@“Erin’s Dad” @BobWallace I knew that. I was wondering if I had to apply EA to Georgia Tech to be eligible for the PSP or could I apply RD but before the deadline (Oct 15, the EA deadline. But I wouldn’t apply EA). I might just have to contact GT and ask them if no one seems to know.
GT’s early action is not binding. So, even if you are accepted, you DO NOT need to attend the college. If I were you, I would apply EA to GT since, you will qualify for the scholarship if you want to attend the school.
Actually, actually, actually… I was being majorly ignorant. I didn’t full read the link Erin’s Dad sent, and that has the answer clearly spelled out. Sorry for the inconvenience!!
Absolutely apply EA to Georgia Tech at the same time as Princeton because the EA admission rate at GT is around 40% while RD it is only 17%. Your chances are so much better there EA. Plus special programs like Presidential Scholar and Grand Challenges really are only available to the EA accepted pool. Also if my memory is correct (I have a second year at GT), you have to have your documents in by the EA deadline too so be sure your test scores, transcript and recommendations are in by Oct 15. Also look at any other state schools you may want to apply to EA. In my experience your best chance for acceptance and merit money are in the EA rounds, and you want to have some safeties and matches in the mix. I assume you like science/engineering since you have GT on your list so look at Alabama, Auburn, Missouri Science and Tech, Ohio State, Michigan and Oregon State to name a few that all have attractive EA and good science/engineering.
