I'm only thirteen years old, and I'm interested in becoming an investment banker. Do you think knowing German would help me in the field? What other languages would be helpful?

Thanks. :)

BTW - I've heard the "you're too young to be on these forums," speech. I know that. lol.

Yeah it would help, but you should focus on French, Japanese, Mandarin, and Arabic too.

How would Arabic be useful as an investment banker?

Would all of those languages only be useful if I worked for a company that used those languages?

I want English to be the primary language, but I'd like to communicate with others in foreign languages as well. Do investment bankers get to do this?

Hunt down a copy of The Economist.
Read the job ads in there and look at the langauge requirements.

English is the linga franca of the world. If you plan on working in specific regions learn the local languages. I doubt that there will be that much foreign investment in the Arab world in the coming 30 years. Latin America (after it gets off it's current wave of populism) and south asia show the greatest potential for growth. Everyone who is anything in India speaks english. Spanish will help you in both latin America and the US

German is very useful in investment banking.

Take Deutsche Bank for instance.
