Hi does anybody have a link or a scan of the GE requirements for CLS ?
Also does anybody know how you can graduate in 3 years.

Here's a general list (check the three "Foundations" links), but I'm not sure if these are the exact requirements (not an L&S major, sorry):

Hmm... Tips on how to graduate in three years:
1. Get as many AP scores of 4/5 as possible.
2. Take summer sessions to clear out your GEs.
3. Always take at least four courses per quarter.
4. Don't enter UCLA as undeclared - come in with a major and take your major requirements as early as possible.

kingroger, perhaps you have a specific question that i could try to answer? for college of letters and science, there's only 10 GE's to take, it's not a lot, and can be completed in a year basically. some majors have lower-division classes that overlap with the GE options, so you have the opportunity to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

looking from your thread title, it looks like you want to graduate in 3 years. the key to this lies within your major... thats the big variable, where some majors require more classes and some don't. in general, you can't really get rid of GE's through APs. however, AP's come in handy if you've finished all your GE's already, and you've finished your major, but you haven't met the 180 units required for graduation. then, your AP units kick in and boost you up to finish.

pick a major that doesn't have many requirements to graduate. find GE classes that count for your major too (perhaps maybe 1 or 2 classes total). don't do honors.

thxs everyone, kfc i sent u a private message

have you taken a ge cluster? how is it different from taking separate classes and would you recommend it?

GE cluster = 3 classes
gets rid of 3 GE's, plus writing II requirement and seminar requirements

without cluster
3 classes to get rid of GE's, plus maybe a separate writing class to get rid of writing II requirement, not sure maybe another class to get rid of seminar requirement

basically, it saves you about a class or two in terms of scheduling.

it's good because it's year-long. you get to really know the professors and students in the class. this also gives time to explore many different topics and take an interdisciplinary approach to the topics.

oh yea, if you take a cluster, you also get priority registration. LOL.

i'm currently finishing my last quarter of the biotechnology cluster. overall, im enjoying it and i've learned a lot, although its nothing exceptional. i guess i'd have to say that i would recommend it, but it's not for everyone. if none of the clusters seem to interest you, then don't take it. if one of them do, then i'd say try it, because you can always drop it after one quarter.
