So in the beginning of my freshman year My grades were pretty good but during the second semester I started to get bullied by some upperclassmen so my grades started to go down really fast and it really damaged me mentally and emotionally. It was so bad I got into drugs and I became suicidal and I have really bad social anxiety. The bullying didn’t stop until the end of sophomore year. I’m now a junior and I turned my life around. And unfortunately due to my gpa I can’t take any honors classes or AP classes. My first quarter ended and I finished the quarter with mostly 89s and a couple of As. My gpa for the first quarter was a 3.3. and my GPA didn’t change. Hopefully by the end of the second quarter my gpa for the second would be 3.2-3.5. Also, I’m taking the ACT this spring and I took some practice test and I got a high score. Do u think I have a chance into getting to a college. Also, I’m African American so I am a minority. Also, I’m from Pennsylvania so I’m not i can get into any state schools.
@panone2 Congratulations on turning things around. That shows a lot about your character. I think keep doing what you are doing. Prepare for the ACT and do well. You definitely will have to explain your low grades somewhere on your app, maybe your GC may want to address it for you? Explaining it will help create a clearer picture for the adcomms. I do think you will get into a college. There are some many great college and universities out there. I’m sure you will find one that will fit what you are looking for. Keep working hard! You can do this!
There is a college out there for everyone- just do your research and you will find perfect schools for you. If these schools are not exactly what you are looking for, Community College is a great option to save money and then transfer into better schools. But I am confident that you will find an excellent school that is perfect for you, especially with your ambition. Keep working hard!
