What are they looking for specifically? I have the writing skills yet somehow I always wind up with a 10. If anyone has gotten a 12 could they say how they structured it/ how much they wrote/ what kind of claims they made etc. Thanks

long as hell.

make up fake quotes that support arguement.

don’t get too sophisticated

long as hell(very important)

S2 wrote two paragraphs (filled both pages). Had lots of references to current events. Realized he had not specifically addressed the prompt, so added a sentence at the end in the last 30 seconds.

… and got a 12?

bump^ :)

If your advice is true, then one has to have a some idea of what to write…

From what i’ve heard to do good on the act essay you need:

-to write a lot
-have good/many transitions to make your essay flow and connect ideas well
-prove your side very well, which can include refuting the counter-arguements

i swear, if you BS something reasonable…it’ll get you a good score…i thought my essay was so crappy…i felt like two of my paragraphs said basically the same thing (realized this after my essay was done, so i couldn’t correct anything) and then also didn’t think i really addressed the prompt haha…err…i got a 10? probably why i didn’t get a 12…haha…but i think the write a lot tip is true

lol i got a 12 on the SAT essay, and then a 9 on the ACT.

I’ve taken the ACT Writing and gotten a 12 on my essay both times… Once I wrote about “who is responsible for student’s success in high school” and the other time something like “does multitasking help high school students.”
Basically I just BS’ed a three prong essay with three points that I thought the average middle-aged mom would like… My essays were also pretty long, using up almost the whole booklet. I also threw in pretty words from my school’s vocab lists.
But both my essays used the word “fallacious,” I remember that… Maybe that’s the key to a 12 :)
