The first time I took the ACT as junior I was in algebra 2. I didn’t finish the last few questions but still got a 30 on the math section. MOST of the trig covered by the ACT is covered in algebra courses; you should know what sin, cos, and tan look like, but it’s pretty unlikely that they’ll just pull a ton of questions asking you about cotangent functions or anything like that (though they may have one or two). Still, if you could learn basic definitions of secant, cosecant, and cotangent, it might be helpful.

Most of their geometry questions are simple. I would say that the Barron’s book would be quite helpful in geometry. The geometry questions on the ACT are almost always extremely similar, so it would benefit you to look at some practice tests, just to see what they usually want.

I dont think it should be a worry. At most, you would have about 4 questions on trig (no precal req). If you guess on those four and get all the other ones right, you can still end up with a 32

I wouldn’t worry about pre-cal/trig, but are you strong in Geometry? You are taking the class right now. ACT has quite a bit Geometry. It’ll be hard to get 30+ without knowing Geometry well.

Well i the first time i took the act without taking a precalc/trig class I got a 30 on act math and this last act I’m almost positive I got a 36 or at least a 35 so I think it helps

Yea, well I have no idea what secant and the rest of those are. I JUST started geometry and learning transformations. YIKES! At least there is no Pre-Cal…

Anyways, yeah, I’ll just have to find an in-depth resource (whether it be online or a book) and self study math all the way up to trig :D

I took Al2 before Geo… Not a very common thing to do. Kinda regret it now :(

I personally never really took geometry because my teacher got fired halfway through the year in 8th grade, so we had a sub who taught us nothing. If you have Algebra 2 down pat then you’ll be fine. I was basically in your situation and I still managed a 32 on the Math.
