I was thinking of ways to raise extra money during college, and one of them was to get a job. Do students often work during the school year? If so, how often? Thanks!

P.S. Any extra ways to earn money would be great

I'm not yet in college so I don't know but I'm sure its not a taboo idea at all.

Other ways to save/gain money? I'd say ebay! I'm sure everyone has some junk they would not mind getting rid of! Seriously, I'm sure your familiar with ebay. You can sell ANYTHING!

Students definitely work during the school year--just be sure to find a good balance between work, study and fun.

Do freshmen tend to work during the school year as well, or do they spend more time adjusting to college life?

Also, what about during the summer between senior year of HS and freshman year of college?

One college told our D that she was expected to earn $1800 - 2000 the summer before college and that amount increased by a few hundred for each summer after that. The money is to be used for college related costs.

I'm a freshman and work 15-20 hours a week filing charts and insurance information at a doctor's office. $10/hr, not a bad gig :)

Most of my freshman friends who have jobs work in the dining centers or the events center because they're on campus. My older friends have jobs farther off campus, but they also live off campus and have more reliable transportation than the city busses.

I work about 5-15 hours a week at Build-a-Bear, and I'm doing a professional show right now that pays a couple hundred.

I work about 10-12 hours a week. It's doable for me because I chose to work from 6am-9am. I start class at 9:15am or so.

You work at 6am? That's disgusting!

haha hey I work 24 hour shifts from 7am - 7am :)
So yes, it is doable, and I would recommend it as long as you find something you enjoy.
Most on-campus jobs are very flexible and will work around your class schedule. They also tend to be pretty chill jobs.
