Getting a job in investment banking as an industrial engineer

Got questions...
I am majoring in industrial engineering in Georgia Tech.
And considering minoring in Economics.
I just want to know graduating from Georiga Tech as an industrial engineer ( minor in economics) would help me to get a job in investment banking firms. (assuming that I got GPA around 3.6)
Cuz I heard from a guy who is working in Goldman Sachs that there are quite a number of engineers working in that firm. And I know Georgia Tech is the best industrial engineering school....

Or is it better to MS in financial engineering, then apply for a position in investment banking?

Please give advice...I need help...

^There was a guy in my IB analyst class from Georgia Tech who majored in some kind of engineering and had a minor in economics. I think his GPA was ~ 3.4. I don’t think getting an MS would help your chances.

You should be fine. You really don’t even need the minor in economics either. You don’t need to know advanced economics (which is just theoretical) to be good at betting on asset prices anyway. Minoring in finance or accounting would be better IMO.

Betting on asset prices is not what most in IB, especially those directly out of UG, are doing. It is mostly building different types of excel models, using Powerpoint to put together presentations and attending to the needs of corporate clients. That said, you don’t really need theoretical economics for any of those things, either.
