Getting around LA: USC or UCLA

Which school has better public transportation to get to stuff in LA like concerts?

I say USC. West LA traffic is horrendous and the subway extension down Wilshire is just a dream at this point.

The public transportation in both areas is fairly decent. UCLA has more busses though (big blue bus; culver city bus, and MTA which stops by there, but also has a few buses right outside of the village.) It depends on what part of the city you’re trying to get to. I’ve been to concerts in santa monica, for which UCLA would be significantly better to get to. Trying to go to downtown? USC’s better for that.

I agree that traffic is horrendous. But that’s a weekday thing. Most concerts will be on saturday. Most people don’t go to that part of the city on the weekends unless they have to (i know i, and many others, don’t.) so it’s fairly empty, when most concerts would be on that side.

UCLA is closer to the more upscale areas though (e.g. West Hollywood, Santa Monica, etc.) where more concerts might be held. I think both schools are equally far from like los feliz (where the greek theatre is) but USC might be closer to the wiltern.

And Nokia, Staples…

Ah good point. For some reason i forgot about these places. Yeah, these places are probably like a 10-15 min. bus ride from USC. Maybe i’m just intuitively biased to smaller concerts.
